Baptism at St Euphemia
Organising a Baptism at St Euphemia Bankstown
The role of the Baptismal Godparent is the spiritual instruction and education of the child. Consequently, the Baptismal Godparent must be an Orthodox Christian in good standing with the Orthodox Church. The canons of the Orthodox Church only allow one Baptismal Godparent.
Only one name will be used in the Sacrament of Baptism of the child, even if the child has been registered with two or more names. The name should be a Saint's name.
After booking your child's baptism (via the Baptism Registration Form below) you will need to organise a number of documents in preparation for the baptism:
1) You will be required to provide a copy of your child's birth certificate.
2) You will be required to provide a copy of the Godparent's Baptismal Certificate. If the Godparent cannot find their own Baptismal certificate, they will need to contact the parish in which they were baptised and arrange with the priest to have a copy of the baptismal certificate re-issued to him/her.
3) On the day of your child's Baptism you will be required to pay for the certificate and registration fee of $250.
4) The Godparent will pay the community fee of $750 on the day of your child's baptism. These fees can be split between the parents and God parent.
(Please fill in the below registration form to book in a proposed date for the Baptism. Father Panagiotis or Father Meliton will then be in contact to confirm the Baptism date and any additional details required).
